Raspberry Silent Killer
This cocktail got its name when we served it to some family members and the night took a turn (lol). It’s a classic sour (2 parts spirit, 1 part sweet, 1 part citrus) wIth some twists. The fresh raspberries give a natural sweet fruity flavor without being candy sweet. The tartness of the raspberry evens out the sweetness. We’ve added elderflower liqueur for another level of sweetness with floral notes, while also helping mask the liquor flavor. Just like the name, you won’t notice a strong alcoholic flavor with this one, and it’s easy to have many!
Some tips and tricks:
Muddle the raspberries lightly. You’re juicing them not pulverizing.
When straining, you can use a spoon to lightly help the juices through, but don’t push them through or you end up with allot of pulp in your final product. Tapping the side of the strainer also works.
Chill your glasses prior to mixing up the cocktails. You’ll find this in our typical tips for all coupe and martini glasses. It’s so easy and adds that something extra.
If you don’t have fre sh lemon, store bought lemon juice will do in a pinch. But we strongly recommend fresh squeezed.
Ingredients:
1 Handful of raspberries (about 8-10 berries)
1/2 oz simple syrup
1 oz lemon juice (preferably fresh squeezed)
2 oz Gin (or Vodka if you prefer)
½ oz St. Germain
Directions:
Muddle raspberries in an empty shaker
Add simple syrup and lemon juice and stir to combine
Strain mixture into a shaker with ice and remaining ingredients
Shake for 10-20 seconds
Double strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass
This is also a great cocktail to make ahead of time. You can make the raspberry with the simple syrup and lemons and then add the gin and elderflower liqueur later, or mix the whole thing. If you’re making more than one, we suggest at least muddling the raspberries, mix with lemon juice and simple syrup, and strain prior to mixing the other ingredients. Here’s how we make it for our squad.
To make a batch of 6:
12 oz raspberries (or more if you wish) (can also use strawberries or a combination)
1 cup lemon juice (preferably fresh squeezed)
½ cup simple syrup
2 cups of Gin (or vodka if you prefer)
½ cup of St. Germain
Directions:
Muddle raspberries in a shaker or bowl.
Shake or stir in lemon juice and simple syrup to combine and strain into a pitcher.
Then to a pitcher add Gin and St. Germain.
When ready to drink, add 4oz (½ cup) of the mixture per serving to a shake with ice. Shake for 10-20 seconds.
Double strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
