Watermelon Mint Varieties

In the heat of summer few things are better than fresh watermelon. Known for it’s sweet flavor and high water content, watermelon is always a refreshing delight.

Add some mint and we’ve got a refreshing base for some spectacular and easy cocktails and mocktails. This base consists of mixing fresh watermelon and mint in a blender and straining to remove the pulp. The possibility are endless, but here are our favorite ways to use it.

First let’s start with making the base.

Watermelon Mint Juice

Instructions:

  1. Place watermelon in a blender and blend for 15-20 seconds

  2. Add the mint and pulse for 10 seconds

  3. Strain through a sieve and chill until ready to use

The first cocktail to make that is a great fit for this juice is a watermelon mojito. Adding this juice puts a lovely twist on a classic drink that is sure to surprise and delight.

Watermelon Mojito

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz white rum

  • 1 1/2 oz watermelon mint juice

  • Half of a lime cut into quarters

  • 2 teaspoons of sugar (quick dissolve works best)

  • 6-8 mint leaves

  1. Place lime, mint and sugar in a shaker and muddle to release the juices and express the mint. Do this gently. You don’t want to pulverized and bruise the mint.
