Aperol Grapefruit Margarita
This cocktail was inspired by one featured at one of our favorite restaurants. That one was made with tequila, grapefruit and bubbles. The bubbles and citrus balanced so well with the tequila. For our version, we’ve added Aperol to bring in a slight bitterness.
This cocktail is a great alternative to the traditional margarita made with tequila and sour mix. The Aperol and citrus juices have a similar sour flavor to the sour mix without the artificial bite. Topping this one with bubbles balance those flavors and adds a touch of wimzy.
Directions:
Add all ingredients (except the bubbles) to a shaker with ice
Shake for 10 to 20 seconds
Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass
Top with your choice of bubbles
Garnish with a grapefruit slice or make it extra with a grapefruit twist
And obviously, like any margarita, it is great to make for a crowd. Mix all the ingredients except the bubble before a party so that’s it’s ready to go when guests arrive, or whenever you’d like really, it’s your party ;-). This recipe makes (8) 6oz servings, so double (or triple…) to fit your needs.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Tequila Blanco
1/2 oz Aperol
1/2 oz Lime juice
1 oz Grapefruit juice
½ oz agave
1-2 oz choice of bubbles
Tip:
You can substitute honey is you don’t have agave, but consider mixing with some water first to dilute it. Agave is less viscous and mixes well with the other ingredients. Honey will tend to clump in the shaker and not fully incorporate unless you dilute it first.
