Very Merry Berry ‘Tini
We’ve all stared into the fridge after Thanksgiving and had a small panic attack by the amount of leftovers. Luckily this cocktail will both cool your stress and put that left-over cranberry sauce (that’s only kept around for topping sandwiches the next day, lets be honest…) to good use.
We start by using the left over cranberry compote that we use in our Nantucket Mule, and running it through an immersion blender until the mixture is smooth and the remaining whole cranberries are blended. You can also use any leftover cranberry sauce that you have. Canned cranberry sauce works just as well if you want to make this at another time of year or don’t have the leftovers on hand!
Some tips and tricks:
It is always optional to double strain here for a smoother and lighter texture.
When straining, you can use a spoon to lightly help the juices through, but don’t push them through or you end up with allot of pulp in your final product. Tapping the side of the strainer also works.
Chill your glasses prior to mixing up the cocktails. You’ll find this in our typical tips for all coupe and martini glasses. It’s so easy and adds that something extra.
Ingredients:
2 oz Gin (or Vodka if you prefer)
1 ½ oz pureed cranberry compote (or left over T-day cranberry sauce)
1 oz orange juice (preferably fresh squeezed)
½ oz lime juice (preferably fresh squeezed)
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
Shake for 10-20 seconds
Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass
Garnish with orange flare, or fresh cranberries.
This is also a great cocktail to make ahead of time. Here’s how we make it for our squad.
To make a batch of 6:
2 cups of Gin (or vodka if you prefer)
1 ½ cup pureed cranberry compote (or left over T-day cranberry sauce)
1 cup orange juice
½ cup lemon juice
Directions:
Combine all ingredients into a pitcher, using a whisk to break up the cranberry sauce if needed.
When ready to drink, add 4-6 oz (½ cup) of the mixture per serving to a shake with ice. Shake for 10-20 seconds.
Double strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
