Pimm’s Cup
This quintessentially British Cocktail can be made in anyway you fancy. Just start with Pimm’s No. 1 and building from there. Pimm’s is a gin based liqueur that is sweet with notes of caramelized orange and warm spices. It was originally made as a digestive to have with oysters, so there are also botanical herbs in the mix as well.
Typically in the United Kingdom, the Pimm’s Cup it is made with lemonade, and sometimes referred to as Pimm’s and Lemonade, However, the lemonade referenced is not the fresh lemon juice with lots of sugar lemonade as we know it here in the States. The closest thing we have here, that we have found, is Sprite. Many also make their Pimm’s Cup with ginger ale, which brings an added spice to the mix. Next toss in whatever fruit you’d like. We stick with citrus and cucumber for added freshness, but you can also add in berries and melon.
Some tips and trixx:
There is no wrong way to make this cocktail. Taste different varieties to find the combinations you like!
To get more flavor out of the fruit toppings you can muddle them slightly in the glass before adding the ice and other ingredients. Just give it all a good stir to combine, and muddle gently.
