Watermelon Mint Varieties

In the heat of summer few things are better than fresh watermelon. Known for it’s sweet flavor and high water content, watermelon is always a refreshing delight.

Add some mint and we’ve got a refreshing base for some spectacular and easy mocktails. This base consists of mixing fresh watermelon and mint in a blender and straining to remove the pulp. The possibility are endless, but here are our favorite ways to use it.

First let’s start with making the base.

Watermelon Mint Juice

Ingredients :

  • Half of a large watermelon chopped

  • One handful of fresh mint leaves

Instructions:

  1. Place watermelon in a blender and blend for 15-20 seconds

  2. Add the mint and pulse for 10 seconds

  3. Strain through a sieve and chill until ready to use


Once the juice is chilled and ready to go, try adding 2 ounces to 8-10 ounces of your favorite seltzer, club soda, tonic or ginger ale. It a great addtion to any and all, and adds a lovely touch to these simple beverages.

Another great option is to make this simple mocktail.

Watermelon Mint Mocktail

Ingredients :

  • 2 oz Watermelon mint juice

  • 1/2 oz lime juice

  • 1 teaspoon sugar (quick dissolve)

Instructions :

  1. Combine all ingredients in a shake with ice

  2. Shake for 20 seconds

  3. Pour over fresh ice

  4. Top with club soda

  5. Garnish with fresh watermelon slice

We can also step this up a notch and make a virgin mojito. Adding this juice puts a lovely twist on a classic drink that is sure to surprise and delight.

Watermelon Mint Mojito

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz watermelon mint juice

  • Half of a lime cut into quarters

  • 2 teaspoons of sugar (quick dissolve works best)

  • 6-8 mint leaves

  • Club soda

Instructions :

  1. Place lime, mint and sugar in a shaker and muddle to release the juices and express the mint. Do this gently. You don’t want to pulverized and bruise the mint.

  2. Add the watermelon mint juice and shake over ice for 20 seconds

  3. Pour over fresh ice

  4. Top with club soda

  5. Garnish with lime and mint
